Autumn Treasures On-line Workshop - Polymer Clay Fungi & Lichen
Saturday 28th November 2020 10am-11:30am
£26 each (including materials, UK only)

Join Kathryn for a relaxed, friendly workshop creating autumn-inspired miniature sculptures!.... including advice on how to turn them in to unique jewellery / sculpture gifts for Christmas (or to keep!!).

We'll be using white polymer clay to create 3 or 4 little treasures inspired by lichens and fungi. You’ll be able to see close-up views of Kathryn’s hands working as she leads you through simple step-by-step instructions. And with a small group, everyone will have plenty of time and attention (maximum 6 participants).

Before the workshop you’ll receive the materials and tools through the post: a pack of white polymer clay, two simple modelling tools (hand-shaped by Kathryn), and a piece of card to work on. I'll also include a couple of little brooch backs so you can experiment with turning your sculptures in to unique pieces of jewellery. Because of postage, bookings close on 23rd November and we can only accept bookings from participants in the UK - please do not book a ticket if you are not in the UK!

Once finished, your polymer clay sculptures can be baked in an oven to set them hard. Instructions will be sent by email and it is strongly recommend to use an oven thermometer to check the temperature.

This workshop is for adults. No experience necessary.

Please Note: This workshop is for participants in the UK only because of the need to send materials by post. Bookings close on 23rd November.

Masterclasses, workshops and talks for colleges, schools, groups, festivals, museums, galleries, nature conservation organisations and more...

I am a trained teacher with a heart for helping others to explore and enjoy their own creativity... and I love sharing the delight that I find exploring the natural world through art. In 2020 I've taken my workshops on-line, offering workshops and talks for individuals and small groups.

Each workshop is bespoke, tailored to suit the group, with nature and place the main sources of inspiration. Often porcelain or other modelling clays are used, along with natural materials and found treasures, or simple printmaking techniques. Skills are taught where needed, stories of the place shared, nature is enjoyed and closely observed…. and most importantly everyone is given the freedom and support to enjoy their time creating.

"I had the best day!" 8 year old on fungi-inspired workshop for families

"You were so lovely and approachable. It was inspiring to learn how you worked and where you drew inspiration from. It really made me think about the ways in which I work, how I could approach my work differently." from a porcelain masterclass for degree students

I am also available for talks about my work, and the tales of places, people and the natural world that inspire me.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a workshop, masterclass or talk for you or your group. You can also subscribe to my mailing list for details of public workshops.
