NEXT WORKSHOPS:

Lichen and Fungi Miniature Treasures - Polymer Clay Workshop
Saturday 16th January 2021, 10 - 11:45am £28 including materials

This is a live on-line workshop, taught from my studio via Zoom...

We’ll be using soft white polymer clay to create 3 or 4 little treasures inspired by lichens and fungi. I’ll guide you through with simple step-by-step instructions, and you’ll be able to see close-up views of my hands working too. It will be a small group, so everyone will have plenty of time and attention (maximum 6 participants).

I will also show you how to add a brooch back to create a wearable piece of art! And I’ll demonstrate a simple technique for adding colour too.

Before the workshop you’ll receive materials and tools through the post: a pack of white polymer clay, two simple modelling tools, white card to work on, and two metal brooch backs. Workshop packs can only be sent to UK addresses because postage - please do not purchase a ticket if you are outside the UK.

Saturday 6th February 2021, 10 - 11:45am, £40 including workshop pack

Join Kathryn for a relaxed, friendly workshop creating nature-inspired miniature sculptures!

This is an on-line workshop, taught live from my studio via Zoom.

When I was at primary school, we used to have a Nature Table in the corner of the classroom. I loved looking at the little acorns, old birds nests, and the vase of flowers that changed with the seasons....

In this workshop we’ll be using soft white polymer clay to create 3 or 4 little treasures inspired by February Nature Table delights. You'll be able to see close-up views of my hands working as I guide you through with simple step-by-step instructions. It will be a small group, so everyone will have plenty of time and attention (maximum 6 participants).

Masterclasses, workshops and talks for colleges, schools, groups, festivals, museums, galleries, nature conservation organisations and more...

I am a trained teacher with a heart for helping others to explore and enjoy their own creativity... and I love sharing the delight that I find exploring the natural world through art. In 2020 I've taken my workshops on-line, offering workshops and talks for individuals and small groups.

Each workshop is bespoke, tailored to suit the group, with nature and place the main sources of inspiration. Often porcelain or other modelling clays are used, along with natural materials and found treasures, or simple printmaking techniques. Skills are taught where needed, stories of the place shared, nature is enjoyed and closely observed…. and most importantly everyone is given the freedom and support to enjoy their time creating.

"I had the best day!" 8 year old on fungi-inspired workshop for families

"You were so lovely and approachable. It was inspiring to learn how you worked and where you drew inspiration from. It really made me think about the ways in which I work, how I could approach my work differently." from a porcelain masterclass for degree students

I am also available for talks about my work, and the tales of places, people and the natural world that inspire me.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss a workshop, masterclass or talk for you or your group. You can also subscribe to my mailing list for details of public workshops.
