Porcelain Workshop

Come and enjoy a morning, or afternoon, creating your own miniature porcelain plaque inspired by wildflowers and fungi, and the Wildlife Trust's centre at Rushden Lakes, Northamptonshire. Places must be booked in advance, by contacting the Wildlife Trust - click for further details.



 

Langdyke Stories Community Artwork & Langdyke Museum of Objects

Free entry to the exhibition in the Dovecot, during Cottage opening hours - normally Monday, Friday & Saturday 11-4, subject to change so please check their website before making a special journey.
Working with Kathryn as part of the Langdyke Stories project, over 300 people created their own miniature artworks inspired by the wildlife and local history associated with Langdyke Countryside Trust's nature reserves. Using papers that had been eco-printed with plans from Langdyke's reserves, they were then stitched together to make glorious art-bunting and displayed at the Trust's 20th anniversary celebrations. You can also see a selection from Langdyke's new Museum of Objects, complete with stories behind these precious belongings.

Langdyke Stories is an Art Pop-Up project, in association with Langdyke Countryside Trust.

"Symbiosis" at Peterborough Open Art Exhibition

Inspired by microfungi studied at the University of Leicester and created in collaboration with their scientific glass blower Gayle Price, "Symbiosis" has now been selected for the Peterborough Open Exhibition.

Open Upp Art Exhibition 2, Uppingham, Rutland

After a highly successful first pop-up gallery exhibition in March, Open Upp Art returns to Uppingham with a different combination of artists. Kathryn will be exhibiting exquisite nature-inspired sculptures and pieces from her "Meadow & Sea" collection. You can find the gallery in the historic market town of Uppingham, just along the road from the renown Goldmark Gallery.

Norman Cross Gallery Winter Exhibition, Peterborough

A group exhibition, including a selection of Kathryn's coral sculptures. Open Saturdays 4th November - 31st December, 11am - 4pm, and at other times by appointment with the Gallery.


 

'Brief Encounters', Newark Houses Museum, Leicester
10th - 31st March 2018
Work by eight artists, each paired with a scientist from the University of Leicester, for British Science Week 2018. Including 'Symbiosis', a collection of glass, thread and porcelain micro-fungi, inspired by research at the University, by scientific glass blower Gayle Price and me.

Porcelain Meadow Plaques Workshop
4th November 2018
At the Wildlife Trust's Nene Wetlands Visitor Centre, Rushden Lakes. Study plants, fungi and lichen up close and then create a beautiful sculpted plaque using porcelain. All materials & tuition provided, £25 per person. Either 9:30-12:30 or 1:30-4:30pm. Derby Impossible Cup and Herbarium Finds - Interventions at Derby Museum

Nestling beside the antique porcelain vessel that inspired it, the tiny Derby Impossible Cup is one of a series of interventions by different artists in the Derby Museum porcelain collection. Meanwhile, upstairs in the nature gallery tiny porcelain plants and fungi can be found in the herbarium.

Found in the Fields, at The National Centre for Craft & Design, Sleaford

Solo exhibition. A series of works inspired by plants and lichens found growing in places loved by the poet John Clare. Kathryn's collections of found materials, photographs and intricate porcelain sculptures tell of plants' fascinating structures, textures and forms. The exhibition includes work first created for 'UnEarthed" (see below), with new artworks that continue the story. "Found in the Fields" "Found in the Fields" is in the Project Space at the National Centre for Craft & Design in Sleaford, open daily from 10-5, free entry.

Derby Impossible Cup - Intervention at Derby Museum
